Tech Recommendation - Using EdPuzzle to Post Videos

The video is a quick overview of EdPuzzle, some basics of what it can do, and what you can do in it. I also show how to get further training.

Introduction/Explanation of the tool:

EdPuzzle is an free website used to coordinate videos found online through YouTube, Kahn Academy, TED Talks, and many other hosts.  EdPuzzle allows for instructor-created stoppages in video play that require the student to interact with the video to proceed.  Instructors can set up notes, multiple choice questions, and short answer questions to involve students in the video.

 Requirements:

EdPuzzle is available for free via the website and also as an app download for both Apple and Android products.  There is system LMS integration, and EdPuzzle does have links with step by step instructions.  I am unsure if it integrates to the gradebook, as it hasn’t yet cleared our E-Learning department.

 Benefits:

With the stoppages built in, students interact with the video more.  They are unable to hit play, walk away, and complete their video assignment.  Most students don’t mind EdPuzzle (best reaction I’m going to get for a math class….HA!), and generally those that dislike it don’t like it because it’s something they have to do.

 Limitations:

Not all videos found online can be linked to EdPuzzle.  Downloading the Chrome Plug-In makes it easier to determine if the video is usable in EdPuzzle.  The plug-in icon will appear if you are able to link the video and not be available if you can’t.
