Tech Recommendation - Wonder.me

  • Introduction/Explanation of the tool - Wonder.me is a fun, interactive platform to hold meetings, both formal and informal, where participants can meet using video/audio/chat. What makes Wonder.me unique is the ability for participants to see at-a-glance who is in the virtual space and travel from one location to another. 
  • Requirements - At the time of this video, there was only one way to navigate and so my background image contained brief instructions to navigate. However, with the updated version, there are multiple ways to navigate and there is a short introductory pop-up video for first-time users that demonstrates how to use the space.
  • The benefits of using the tool - Use this platform for meetings where you want participants to be able to move on their own. The platform's use of groups and autonomy enhances student engagement and increases a sense of community. Students like the platform and expressed feeling connected to other students they met when we used this platform. 
  • The limitations of using the tool - Limitations are incompatibility with iOS. However, I find that for most international tools, iOS is not supported because Apple products are very expensive and are not accessible to the general global population. There is also no recording feature, but I have gotten around that by using Loom.

Just a warning for anyone else with light/color issues. This site will fill your screen with neon yellow green. I can't comment on the tool, because I couldn't get past the initial loading without pain. :(
