IMPACTful Thought - Meet New Board Members

GEORGE HURLBURT

George Hurlburt from SUNY Corning CC in New York, is the new President-Elect. George served as the AMATYC Website Coordinator for 10 years, and the NE Representative to ITLC for 12 years.  He served for 9 years on the NYSMATYC Board, including two terms as President.  He was also the conference coordinator for the NYSMATYC 40th Conference and 50th Conference. On a personal note, George has 3 children, two adult sons and a daughter in high school.  He enjoys bike riding in the summer and downhill skiing in the winter.

 

AJ STACHELEK

AJ Stachelek from Hostos CC, CUNY in the South Bronx is the new Northeast Vice President. AJ served the last 2 years as the Chair of the Equity ANet, but has been involved with AMATYC since being a member of Project ACCCESS Cohort 12. AJ looks forward to continue giving back to AMATYC and hopes that their passion for the organization encourages others to continue to get more actively involved in the organization in whatever way works for them. On a personal note, AJ is blessed with a wonderful 7 year old and loves to go out on various adventures, whether in the water or on land. Currently, waterslides are temporarily in first place. 


BRANDON BARTLEY

Brandon Bartley from Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, Kentucky is the new Midwest Vice President. Brandon served the last 8 years on the KYMATYC Board, initially as Member-at-Large and then through the presidential term(s) as President-Elect, President, and recently ended his term as Past President. He has attended the AMATYC annual conferences since 2014 and is looking forward to serving the Midwest Region to his best ability. On a personal note, Brandon is married with three children, all boys, aged 10, 5, and 3. He enjoys playing golf, his Xbox, and is actively involved in a local church.


SHANNON RUTH

Shannon Ruth from GateWay CC in Phoenix, Arizona is the new Southwest Vice President. Shannon is currently serving as ArizMATYC Past President. She has been attending AMATYC conferences since 2014 and is excited to be involved with AMATYC in new ways! In the classroom, she enjoys fostering a strong sense of community as a way to meaningfully contribute to the success of her students. Outside of the classroom, Shannon enjoys spending time with friends and family and spending time outdoors in any way, especially hiking.
