Keisha-
Thank you for posting this wonderful information about COIL. The exchange with South Africa must have been an amazing experience for both students and faculty! Your contribution on COIL is very timely. The International Mathematics Network and the Statistics Committee have also co-hosted a webinar this week on
"Globalizing Curriculums with Data: COIL Energizes the Learning Environment". Maybe you had a chance to tune in, but if you didn't, here are the recordings. The video is split into two parts:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9DuK1QPmN0 (part 1)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhQ9zjF2tbQ (part 2)
One of the three speakers, Irene Duranczyk from the University of Minnesota, has made a COIL workbook available as well as an example of a Stats COIL Data Analysis Project which she led with China and Russia. (see attached files)
So far, I have not been involved with COIL, but my college just signed a MOU with the Polytech University of the Philippines (PUP) which opens the door for more international collaborations. I am hopeful that in the future I may get on a new adventure with COIL.

Hi Mark,
I have partially participated in a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) project with a university in South Africa. It was amazing to see how our Statistics curriculum was similar and different at the same time. Professors from their institution were able to travel here to visit our campus and classes. We were not able to visit them, at the time. My students were excited about the opportunity to meet other students. They are never excited about group projects, but this gave it a twist.
Here are some resources to learn more about COIL also known as Virtual Exchange:

The website below has an extensive list of funding sources for COIL projects. Scroll down to the external list.

I have attached the template of our proposed project.
Good luck to anyone who is interested.

How have you collaborated with faculty either locally, nationally, or internationally, and how has it affected your classroom teaching? If you haven't had the opportunity to do so yet, what type of collaboration would you be interested in engaging in?
