Thanks Hawkes Learning and Janet Zadina for opening the 2020 virtual conference! Anxiety and stress is quite literally PAINful! Remember:
Recognize: The fight-flight-freeze response is likely taking over and inhibiting our and our students' executive functioning.
Recover: Use diaphragmatic breathing and the 4-7-8 breath to calm down the brain
Renew: Practice even brief moments of focused attention or awareness (also known as mindfulness or meditation) to reengage the executive functioning
Reduce: Keep that allostatic load from climbing over and over again by managing and, as much as possible, minimizing additional stress inputs: eat right, exercise, say no, don't overschedule, etc.
Rewire: Choose what you pay attention to, choose gratitude to help your brain rewire and process the stress in a way that won't inhibit your future health.
Thanks Janet Zadina and Hawkes Learning for opening the #AMATYC2020 Virtual Conference with a new brain cycle to interrupt our current anxiety, recover some of our executive functioning, and hopefully prevent chronic PTSD from current events. Tips for both us and our students!------------------------------
