Teaching Statistical Thinking

11-21-2020 07:56:40

Deliberately teaching statistical thinking is encouraged in both the 2016 GAISE recommendations and the 2018 IMPACT document. After summarizing the recommendations in these two documents, several definitions of statistical thinking will be explored. Modeling and assessing statistical thinking will be discussed with the topic of histograms.
Posted here are the PowerPoint, notes handout, and materials for the activity I discussed at the end of the presentation, the Contemporary Issues Journal.
