    Teaching discrete mathematics/discrete structures curriculum in the upcoming academic year 2025-26? Interested in using some activity-based team-worthy lessons? This online workshop, sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America's OPEN Math project, will showcase seven lessons in different discrete mathematics/discrete structures topics, including algorithms. You will get information, demonstration, and opportunities for planning and low-risk practice with the materials.

    Workshop participants will explore together the features of seven team-worthy lessons and how to use them effectively in teaching. The structure of the workshop includes whole group and small group discussions and practice to build skills for launching, sustaining, and wrapping up activity-based lessons.

    After attending the workshop, you will have greater skills to:

    • implement team-worthy discrete mathematics lessons;

    • plan for and orchestrate classroom discussion among students;

    • notice and respond to students' mathematical thinking; and

    • use evidence-based resources for effective transfer-level mathematics education.

    We welcome everyone who has a plan to teach discrete mathematics /discrete structures in the coming year, even if you have never taught the course before. Whether this is your first time hearing about activity-based lessons, or if you have experience, this workshop will help in enriching your teaching with activity-based, team-worthy lessons.

    Register for the Workshop

    Sincerely,
    Shandy (for the project team)
