Dear Colleague,
Please share this with secondary mathematics teachers that you know!
Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education (BSME) is a 6-week summer professional development program in Budapest, Hungary, designed for those interested in the teaching of secondary mathematics. BSME participants study the Hungarian pedagogy, in which a strong and explicit emphasis is placed on problem solving, creativity, and communication.
Eligible participants (i.e., those who hold a bachelor's degree by the time they enter BSME) will earn a total of 8 graduate credit hours through Texas State University.
Why BSME? Today's teachers are expected to provide students with opportunities to struggle productively towards understanding. Student learning must include not only procedural fluency, but also conceptual understanding, logical thinking, and connections between various topics. The Hungarian pedagogy can help teachers cultivate such a learning experience. At BSME, we are excited for our participants to bring back this new perspective on mathematics education.
Please share this opportunity with teachers that you know. We are currently accepting applications for the Summer 2025 program. Admission is rolling with the application due March 15, 2025. More information, including the free online application, can be found at bsmeducation.com. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Please also join us for an informational webinar on February 13, 2025. Details about the webinar can also be found at bsmeducation.com.
Sincerely,
