I have attempted various flipped models over the years. The greatest challenge is that some students simply do not watch the videos. I use Kaltura which tells me who watches the videos and how much time they spend.
Another concern is that students are easily distracted while watching videos at home, so "watching" a video does not mean students are actually learning. I know that certain people have students complete guided student notes for videos to help focus the student. I have tried embedding quiz questions into the videos using Kaltura.
I live in Fort Myers, and we had a horrific hurricane. My family and home are fine, but many of my students and colleagues are struggling. Thankfully, we are going to finish the semester, but everything will be online. I fear my students will be emotionally exhausted, so maintaining their attention for videos will be difficult.
Similar issues with live-online teaching occur. My hope is to encourage student collaboration during the zoom sessions, but I have not had success in the past. Wish me luck...

What are some challenges and/or solutions for implementing active learning or flipped learning in the hybrid (meeting 1 time a week for 75 minutes rather than 150 minutes per week) classroom?
