Quantitative literacy affects a person’s decisions on health and wealth. This video session explains how our Quantitative Reasoning course at Ohio University engages the students with inquiry-based projects in financial mathematics, probability, statistics, and mathematical modeling that are designed to build students’ quantitative competence and confidence. We share samples of student work from fall semester, 2020. This video was presented to a small audience via Zoom, so there are questions and discussion throughout the latter part of the video.
A video recording of the session will be posted when it is made available to AMATYC.
The video is faculty who are either new to QL or to student-centered inquiry. Topics of the student projects include financial mathematics, probability, statistics, and mathematical modeling.00:27:48
